A containerised diving system puts an entire dive spread inside a 10ft or 20ft footprint that can be freighted, craned and connected on site. We build them to order, for sale or hire, and ship worldwide by sea or air freight on a door to door basis.

Our range covers dive control units, dive support machinery control units, and decompression chamber systems with integrated gas quad, in both 10ft and 20ft. Where a container is the wrong answer we build road-going alternatives instead, including trailer-mounted inshore control systems and custom diving support vans.

Every system is engineered to IMCA standards, and we can supply witness and built to class systems where the project or the client’s assurance regime calls for third party oversight. Configuration is bespoke throughout: diver count, gas, chamber requirement, deck space and lifting arrangement all shape the build.

The primary advantage of a containerised system is rapid mobilisation. Because the dive control panels, communications, video monitoring, and sometimes the decompression chambers are pre-installed within a standard 10ft or 20ft shipping footprint, the entire system is essentially “plug-and-play”. This allows diving contractors to transport the equipment globally via standard freight and crane it directly onto a vessel or offshore platform. Once secured and connected to a power source, the dive spread is ready for immediate operation, drastically reducing costly vessel setup times.

Standard ISO shipping containers are designed for calm, stacked transport on cargo ships. They are not structurally engineered to handle the dynamic, often violent forces experienced when being lifted by a crane from a pitching supply vessel onto an offshore oil rig. DNV 2.7-1 is a rigorous offshore lifting certification. It ensures the container frame, pad eyes, and lifting slings are heavily reinforced and thoroughly tested to survive high wind and rough sea transfers without structural failure, protecting both the expensive life-support equipment inside and the deck crew below.

A dedicated dive control container acts as the command centre for underwater operations. It is typically outfitted with the main surface-supplied dive control panels, hard-wire communication units, diver CCTV monitoring screens, and digital depth recording systems. These cabins are heavily insulated and fitted with industrial HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems. This ensures the dive supervisor can monitor life-support metrics in a quiet, climate-controlled environment, free from the noise and extreme weather conditions present on an open offshore deck.

Safety regulations in the offshore oil and gas sector are exceptionally strict regarding fire hazards. An A60 fire rating means the walls, floor, ceiling, and doors of the container are constructed and insulated to withstand a severe hydrocarbon fire for a full 60 minutes without structural collapse or dangerous heat transfer to the interior. This critical safety window protects the dive supervisor and the delicate life-support equipment, ensuring they can safely recover divers from the water even during a catastrophic topside emergency.

Yes, incorporating a deck decompression chamber into a container is a standard practice for commercial diving spreads. A typical 20ft container can comfortably house a twin-lock decompression chamber alongside the necessary gas management panels and seating for the chamber operator. By containerising the DDC, the chamber is protected from corrosive salt spray, extreme temperatures, and mechanical damage on a busy deck. It also ensures the chamber is perfectly aligned and pre-plumbed to the system’s high-pressure air and oxygen banks, guaranteeing immediate readiness for routine decompression or emergency medical treatments.
