DP Alarm Slave Unit

The DP Alarm Slave Unit provides a clear, remote indication of a vessel’s Dynamic Positioning system status for personnel working away from the bridge. Designed for commercial diving and offshore operations, the unit receives electrical signals from the associated DP Alarm Master Unit and displays the corresponding vessel DP condition using high-visibility status LEDs and an audible alarm.

The unit provides three clearly defined DP status indications:

• Green, NORMAL
• Orange, DEGRADED
• Red, EMERGENCY

When the vessel’s DP status changes to DEGRADED or EMERGENCY, the appropriate warning LED illuminates and the audible alarm sounds. An Alarm Accept switch allows the operator to mute the audible alarm while the relevant status LED remains illuminated. The indicated status can only be changed from the Master Unit, helping ensure that personnel at the remote station remain aware of the vessel’s current DP condition.

The DP Alarm Slave Unit is particularly suited to commercial diving operations where dive supervisors, diving personnel or other operational teams require immediate notification of changes to the vessel’s DP condition.

How the DP Alarm Slave Unit Works

The DP Alarm Slave Unit operates as a remote repeater for the vessel’s DP alarm system.

The connected Master Unit sends an electrical signal corresponding to the current Dynamic Positioning status. The Slave Unit then provides both visual and audible notification to personnel at the remote operating station.

During normal operation, the green NORMAL LED is illuminated.

If the vessel DP condition changes to DEGRADED, the orange warning LED illuminates and the audible alarm sounds.

If the vessel DP condition changes to EMERGENCY, the red warning LED illuminates and the audible alarm sounds.

The operator can acknowledge either alarm using the front-mounted Accept switch. This silences the audible warning while maintaining the visual indication until the status is changed at the Master Unit.
